Models of Electric Cars 2021
We have outlined several models of electric cars for the future, including the Volvo XC40 Recharge, Audi A6 e-tron, BMW iNext and Nissan’s Ariya. But how will all of these cars compare to the Tesla Model S and Chevrolet Bolt? The EQT concept offers some insights into what to expect from a production version. Here are some of the main features of each model. We’ll also touch on their projected price and range.
Volvo XC40 Recharge
The Volvo XC40 Recharge is a hybrid crossover with an up-level trim level. It adds 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, active cornering LED headlights, heated front seats, and auto-dimming mirrors. Other notable features include a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and automated emergency braking.
Audi A6 e-tron
The new Audi A6 e-tron will be a brand-new electric car. Its platform will be Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Previous Audi e-vehicles have used the MEB and J1 platforms. PPE allows multiple powertrain configurations and body sizes. The electric motors will be mounted on both axles and have a combined power output of 469 horsepower and 590 pound-feet. Audi expects that this model will hit 0-62 mph in less than four seconds.
BMW iNext
The BMW iNext electric car 2021 is expected to debut on the market in the first half of the decade. It is expected to offer over 400 miles of range and be capable of Level 3 autonomous driving. The company is currently working on the new model, but it is unclear when it will be ready for production. It will use the same platform as the company’s 2020 iX3 sedan, which is based on the Vision Dynamics concept.
Nissan’s Ariya
The exterior design of Nissan’s new Ariya electric car is influenced by the Japanese term “iki,” meaning “to be beautiful”. The front end of the Ariya features a sculpted, seamless front, incorporating a traditional kumiko pattern. The rear side features fender flares that signal the car’s EV capabilities. The sleek design also makes use of the car’s unique, near 50:50 weight distribution. Nissan has included 20 LEDs in the aerodynamic shield, which are placed prominently to increase visibility.
Maserati Grecale Folgore
The Maserati Grecale Folgore is an electric SUV. The Grecale will be the first 100% electric line from the Italian automaker, but the model will retain the look of the petrol version. The body of the Grecale will retain the same rake, but the grille and wheels will be different. The fenders will sport distinctive Folgore badges. The interior will feature recycled nylon materials and an Android Automotive powered touchscreen.
Nissan’s T90EV
Nissan has unveiled concept cars based on its electric vehicle future. The lineup will include an electric crossover and pickup truck. The pickup truck, dubbed the Nissan Surf-out, has a curious see-through front fascia. The crossover will have a battery that delivers a 90-mile range. The electric car will go beyond just the electric motor, and will incorporate a battery-electric drivetrain.
Mercedes EQG
The Mercedes EQG electric car concept will hit the market in 2024, and will be based on a modified G-Class platform. Unlike the EQS and EQE SUVs, the EQG will not have a dedicated EV platform. It will use a modified G-Class platform, but will feature separate battery packs of 108 kWH each. This will allow it to meet the performance requirements required off-road.
Maxus T90EV
The Maxus T90EV is an electric pickup truck that ditches the standard truck running gear and replaces it with an 89kWh battery pack. The truck is rear-wheel-drive and has a 201bhp electric motor. Its low-slung battery limits the truck’s ground clearance. The company has offered limited information about the battery’s range. The WLTP city figure of 198 miles is Maxus’s only range estimate. Other electric trucks achieve a combined range of 130 miles.
MG’s e-Ulysse
MG’s e-Ulyses will have the highest level of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems available in a luxury car. They have been designed to make group transit services and leisure travel smooth and comfortable. They also feature a fully electric power supply and ample storage space for luggage.
